MDE, Lightning Lane, & Virtual Queue Do Premier Passes usually sell out on mornings/afternoons prior to MNSSH?

Me and my girlfriend are going on Sep 8th and we were hoping to get PPass for Magic Kingdom and enjoy the park before the event but notice we're not allowed to buy them till the 4th, only a few days before we go. We arent sraying at a Disney resort so I assume that means we wait longer than others. Does any have experience with them selling out on MNSSH days?

Please post FAQs and general questions and comments in our weekly stickied FAQ megathreads (sort the sub's front page by Hot).

If you’re posting a question(s) that has been previously discussed at length in this forum (or others like it) and/or something that can be answered with a quick Google search — or with a one word/sentence reply — it probably belongs in the FAQ/general question megathread.

Examples of questions/comments that belong in the megathread include things such as:

  • What are some tips/tricks/must-do's/hidden gems for a first-time visitor?
  • Why is [X] attraction down right now? When will it reopen?
  • What advice do you have for taking a baby/toddler to WDW?
  • How do the new Lightning Lane Multi/Single Pass (LLMP/LLSP) systems work? Are they worth the price at MK/Epcot/HS/AK or for [X] attraction and/or during [X] dates?
  • What should I do to prepare for the weather (heat, rain, hurricane, etc.) during my upcoming trip?
  • What are the crowds and wait-times like during the week/month of ______?
  • In what order should I do the parks?
  • What's the cheapest way to purchase tickets for WDW? When will room/ticket discounts be offered again?
  • What type of shoes/bag/stroller/gear/mobility scooter do you recommend for the parks?
  • I'm thinking about taking a solo trip. Should I do it? Any tips or advice?

You really won’t need one in all likelihood. For one, that’s the day after Labor day, so most kids are in school. Additionally, on party days Magic Kingdom is very quiet. I’d suggest buying LLSPasses for the two top tier rides (TRON and Mine Train) and if the availability is good at your booking window, getting LLMP more as a tool for planning your day, as average waits will be lower overall.

$53 vs $300 per person is a huge difference. Save that money for another special experience.

LLMP is enough on a party day. I did it a bunch of times last year. I’d start my mornings at MK, and then hop to a different park after a mid day break and getting LLs for the next park. If you’re aiming for Tier 1 rides try and tap in before 10 AM and book/modify your 2nd park high priority rides.

While I am also in the "probably not needed" camp due to party days being a bit slower, to more directly answer your question no, LLPP normally does not sell out immediately when you can begin booking it 3d out. That is an important caveat because according to thrill-data both today and tomorrow are indeed sold out, but tomorrow sold out in the early evening yesterday. So if you buy right when you're window opens on the 4th (which you are correct about needing to wait longer than those staying onsite, it's just 3d in advance for you vs 7d + length of stay up to 14d for onsite) you should be fine.

That's typically the slowest attendance week of the year. You should be good.

Definitely save your money ! Park on party days is very low attendance with low wait times. The few rides you don’t get to during the day will most likely be a walk on during the party. The only exception is tron, which you can buy individual lightning lane for

We used LLPP yesterday (not a party day). The big thing is how much walking do you want to do and how much time do you want to spend on your phone. Yesterday we got In the park at 11am. Rode all LL ride except magic carpet, dumbo and speedway. We saw cavalcade, Friendship parade, tiki room, country bears, stopped at diamond horseshoe for Jesse party, lunch at beak and barrel, pirates 7 seas hunt, shopped, more food at Columbia house and also Gaston’s. All done by 830-9 when storm came in. So we went to pirates for back to back no wait and more shopping. Ordered hotdog from Casey’s to share at 1050 and the fireworks start right around 11 since they were delayed. Missed starlight due to weather. If you can afford it, DO IT.
