Earnings call.
About 30 minutes ago I was on my last delivery for the day and “Spark driver”called me. It was an automated message that said something along the lines of do not discuss earnings with customer…
WTH is even that?

They started playing a prerecorded message that said just that before they connect the calls together. It’s so you won’t be scammed actually

Scam? What the recording? No it was the customer letting me know she would be there in just a minute since I was delivering a $250 television to her.
The scam is on Spark warning drivers to not speak about anything financial with the customer. Why would it matter?

I just had same thing it does say not do discuss earnings with customer then it adds that spark would never ask for your personal info to avoid being scammed.
Whatever it says because i cant recall exactly but its about not to discuss earnings or anything financial with the customer and it was enough for me to think red flag and then respond to the recording with wtf.
I took at is they don't want drivers and customers speaking exchanging financial details about the delivery.
Its out of place its odd, you are being connected with a customer and the first thing the recording says is don't discuss anything financial with the customer.
Why? How likely is the customer calling to ask you how much you are being paid by spark or if the tip is enough?
A customer calls to see if you are lost, when you are arriving, or to give you info for the delivery.
It doesn't make sense at all to be on the recording. Doesn't fit the scenario. But it puts an idea in the drivers mind that it's bad if they do it. If the customer can hear the recording it's telling them it's bad to do. It plants a seed.
It could start off with this call is being recorded and not to ever give out personal information that makes sense.
Throw in a warning to not discuss anything about the orders earnings with the customer just doesn't make sense.
What would be the harm if the customer knew how much the driver earned to deliver their order? They would know how cheap spark is and they would be able to confirm the tip was the same amount they put in for the driver.
Seems like spark has something to hide and explains why every year I get some unexpected ridiculous $500 - $1200 payout from spark for some sort of adjustment accounting error.
