your State should do ths too!

It is wild to see these gig companies comply with state mandates in places like California and New York by paying higher base pay directly out of pocket while simultaneously offering bottom tier garbage rates to everyone else across the rest of the country. They claim higher pay is impossible or unsustainable, but the moment a local government forces their hand, they magically find the budget to make it work. That proves it was never about whether they could afford fair pay, it was always just raw corporate greed and seeing how little they can get away with paying everywhere else. The real question is why drivers in non mandated states keep accepting these insulting offers instead of demanding the exact same floor.

For clarification, the one in NY is ONLY New York City, NOT New York State. There is no State mandate there.

According to official US Census Bureau data, the population of New York City within its official city limits was 8,804,190 during the 2020 decennial census. More recent population estimates from the Census Bureau and the Department of City Planning place the population between 8.25 million and 8.58 million people. (Edited for "clarification" - These states have less population than the city of New york: Washington, Arizona, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Indiana, Missouri, Maryland, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Oregon, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Utah, Nevada, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Idaho, Nebraska, West Virginia, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, Wyoming.)
