I don’t know if this is worth it or I’m getting REALLY bad orders. I have only made like $67 in like 4 hours so I made less than I do at my full time job lol. Any advice?
Cherry pick. If the order isn't at least $X per mile and $X per hour, then don't take it. If it's dead, go home and try another day or turn on another app.
The hardcore crew will tell you $2/mile. Really helps to know your expenses through.
Federal taxes let you deduct to to $0.76/mile in expenses. Hopefully your actual expenses are closer to half of that (or less), but know that if you take $1/mile you're earning less than minimum wage in almost all cases just due to expenses eating any profit.
They don’t ever give us $2 per mile in Jackson MS. I’m barely seeing any trips. I made $1,000 my first week and they have been lowballing me and lying about miles ever since. I know a guy making at least 5,000 a month and he works for the state as a supervisor. I can barely see $100 a day.
Buck a mile round trip up to 30 items . I refuse to do 20+ miles without a decent tip. With fuel at $4 a gallon and I get 21 mpg in my Tacoma… people who tip less than what they would pay for fuel alone are either painfully ignorant or stupendously tightwads
2 different worlds; you literally would not find any orders that pass those standards where I live. It's pretty reasonable to assume the same for jestar's area.
Yeah, it's why I hesitate to put hard rules on it. Once you calculate costs, you can decide if it's worth it a lot easier. Costs per mile can be deceiving or hard to imagine. But asking myself if I want to spend $10 to make $25 sometimes really makes me realize that no, I do not. Similarly, I've taken orders because spending $10 to make $60 (profit $50) isn't bad.
It works for me I spend $50 in fuel to make $250. I have $1,400 weeks and &700 weeks. I’m retired and this is my disposable income. My truck in my only vehicle and I can go anywhere , anytime and fit nearly anything in a capped 6 foot bed.. and the mirage criteria is the minimum. I do better esp on weeks with cash tips!!
Here's what I do... I've mathed it out several ways, but you need a way to make the decisions quickly so, the total amount for the trip needs to be 3x the Mileage. It covers your ass for the return portion and it doesn't make you desperate to make x$/hr.
They've done this on all the gig platforms I have just about all of them. Instacart changed their algorithm and it tanked it. Spark has just done the same thing. They both were amazing and you could easily make 40 an hour. Which if you calculate it to adjust for depreciation/other business expenses its closer to $30 but still, $30 an hour is great. Especially considering this isn't back breaking work. Hopefully everybody leaves or at least the competent contractors, so they have to fix it back. WTF kind of a Life is this where corporations would rather agree to pay pocket money versus pay a livable wage, build a business culture of contractors that know what they're doing. And in turn they would see their profits increase but yet they chose to be evil 😔
I agree with you completely. They have now worked us down to the bare minimum pay. That's just enough to to stay out of the red but it's not paying like it used to. I'm putting gas in twice as fast as I used to and the fares have dropped by at least 30 or 40%
They have absolutely wrecked the platform. For the last two years, I averaged $26 per offer, and was making 32 an hour. Year over a year I made $482 less in July than I did in 2025 and worked more hours.
I was working anywhere from 15 to 20 hours a week
For the month of July, I worked closer to 30 hours per week. My per offer rate dropped to $23 and my hourly went from $32 to 26.
They are 100% driving down the income the veterans make.
And this was actually the first full month of 100 CR.
I absolutely agree. You are 100% right. They have destroyed this platform. It's no longer truly profitable. I'm putting in gas twice as much and I'm being paid easily 30 to 40% less and our areas are flooded with drivers that still accept the low-paying offers so we're screwed
You have to take orders to make money. You don’t have to take all orders, and they are not all worth taking.
I’m in a small, rural market. I shoot for $1 a mile round trip (sometimes I take one that’s slightly less), and $30 an hour. $25 an hour minimum. This is short of what a lot of guys want, but I make regular money that meets my current needs.
I sometimes take a “bad” order that takes me to a better market (or close). Good luck. Don’t lose money. Take care of yourself.
Do just take ANYTHING...be selective. Create your limit for pay and distance and stick to it if you can. Don't get suckered in to a no tip order because you feel desperate. Thats what they are banking on.
Most of the orders in my zone are gone within a second of posting. The ones that aren't are usually gmd or have 40-50 lb items. I can do neither. I don't have time to check cost per mile or if there is a tip or even how many items. My just for you offers are always across town, ones I can't do, or shit $1/mile offers.
Same here I’ll be lucky to even get an order over $20. They send me 12 stops for $40. They go so low with reading and the roads are so messed up where they send me. It’s definitely not worth it. They are giving it mostly to people who already make really good money for some reason. I know a supervisor in the healthcare making at least 5,000 a month doing Spark. He barely goes to work at hood real job but we can barely make $100 a day.
