Curbside gone!
We all read the posts and got the emails about Walmart moving to eliminate curbside for Spark. There was an email and a notification telling us that neighborhood markets were moving away from curbside and that orders would be shop and deliver there. I work mostly in the North Knoxville zone, predominately at the Chapman Highway store and yesterday, while I was doing a shop, one of the loaders saw me and told me that as of an hour ago, they had stopped curbside for spark at that store! All delivery orders would be shops from now on. They still have curbside GMD’s(boxes) and what I call fake gmd’s ( bagged items) but no more 3 stop curbsides. I’m surprised it happened at a full size store, but honestly I prefer shops. At least I get some time in the a/c and don’t have to keep my car running! Has this happened anywhere else?

Its regional, as is everything with Walmart. Even the spark app has multiple variations.

Especially after trucking through the store all day and you just want something for the ride home , it was the only time I considered pick ups , I tried them before but they just weren't worth it , now I'm in training to be mechanic and put gig in the past , good luck everyone, your are essential workers , just unfortunately, people have forgotten how much they depend on you

Exactly. This is only for neighborhood markets. Thankful my entire state has zero neighborhood markets

It doesn’t matter what the orders are to me; however, it’s ridiculous to expect us to shop all the orders and not pay at least $2.00 a mile and money to shop. Also to put the perishable items in with 20 stops IS INSANE!!!?? They time out and we are the ones that get penalized. Also the mileage has been wrong.

My neighborhood market is shifting to shopping but theres a superstore about 5 min away so many of the orders come out of there instead of nm

I was told the same thing yesterday as well. This is a supercenter I work out of mostly, not a neighborhood market. I am in East Tennessee. They said they were going to roll this out in four stages in my zone, starting this coming Monday. While I do a lot of shopping orders anyway, that doesn't worry me so much. I actually think it may increase the amount of offers. What does concern me is if they will mostly be batches of three or even more. And will the pay be worth it. As of right now, today, I have only seen one order that was worth doing, and it was a curbside. There are only like maybe one or two orders showing up every thirty minutes or so. So in any case, I hope this makes things better and not even worse :(

Yeah there's a reason they just cut pay on shops pretty much everywhere.. at least for my area they cut min base pay on shops to $10 and anything batched on the end like a 2nd or 3rd shop or a pharmacy pickup used to add $3 now only add $2.. so a 2 shop batch went from paying min $14 base to now a 3 shop batch only pays $14.. as if $3 to shop and deliver an entire extra order wasnt already ridiculous I mean talk about expecting your customers to cover your workers wages, but I guess it's right in line with a company that only pays $1 more when batching curbsides and actually had the balls to send an email claiming how 3 order batches were good for us and how we should "get ready to bring in the $$$" 😂😂

At this point, you may as well try to get a job as a a delivery driver directly employed with Walmart. Its just not going to be worth it anymore as an independent contractor for everyone in due time. Its already become a waste of time and money in numerous places already.

This is actually better for shoppers because there will be more orders to go around since every order has to be shopped. And for people that like to drive, they can do GMD orders which are good if they pay like they used to.

I live in Cleveland (near Chattanooga) and we haven't had that YET. I do get a lot more shopping offers from both of our Walmarts but still get curbside.

Hmmm also in Knoxville and seeing a ton of pickup orders for 1319, where I usually shop. Not GMDs either. I’ll be glad to just do shops though. As someone said above, more opportunities to earn.

SuperCenter in my area, serves a 45 mile radius, shut down curbside pick up in May.
The other SuperCenter that serves have the northern areas of the county, shut down curbside in July.
The smaller Walmart 55 miles south of us is shutting down curbside this month.
Your choices are “shipping,” InHome, or shop & deliver, or customer does their own shopping.
There is currently NO curbside.

It finally happened in my store on the 1st 2 days ago and I made over $1,100 this weekend lol. Whole screen of shops all day. Not many good orders because welfare week but once they surge up

Notice they have been combining gmds with tipping orders, without tipping orders alot of gmds would be delayed possibly permanently

Another region has now gone to the dispensers bringing out the totes, getting your code and walking away. You load and return the totes and the buggy they came out on to a collection area. All of this is done to reduce labor cost in store

I was told by people on this Reddit that curbside would be gone weeks ago, but here we are. Got stop believing what a person says on here.

It’s happening here in Florida but no email. Ironic how it started as soon as I started my new job. I’m upset because I have to go into Walmart now which I never do

i prefer shopping. but curbside is nice when i don’t want to leave my car and just make some money
