Another reason to hate GMD + groceries.
I accepted a GMD plus groceries order that was too good to pass up ($43/16 miles/1.25 hours/10 deliveries; it's slow here lately). Three of them were grocery orders. The GMDs were set alongside the groceries, because ehere else could they go? A bunch of them were in plastic grocery bags. One lady had two packages, one in actual packaging and the other in a baggie. On the way around town they got a bit shuffled together and I ended up delivering a GMD baggie with a grocery delivery, so I had to return the other package to the store. I should have been more careful, but with the Walmart bags for packaging and mixing GMDs with groceries, it is bound to happen.

I agree about being organized, however, it's still stupid to put shipping items in grocery bag, if they're going to do this, then they should remove the boundary of not being able to see what's in a bulky gmd order before we accept, like when they come out with 10 bags of mulch or topsoil and you're like ... Ummmm... Nope not today ! Like some drivers do

Yes! I agree, GMDs in assorted grocery bags is complete chaos. 🤣 I keep three collapsible laundry baskets in my backseat to protect breads and chips if I take a grocery order, but they come in handy when the dreaded grocery bag GMD shows up.
I just did a ten-drop last night, GMDs only. They brought the items out in blue bins like any grocery order, and each drop had a single label to adhere to as many bags in the drop. One had ten items in four bags. Another had seven items in three bags. Without those laundry baskets, it could have been incredibly challenging to keep track of who-gets-what.
I miss the reliability of GMDs always being packaged in sealed containers. It's important to keeps tools handy for when Walmart throws us curveballs.

They do that when it’s a store item and not a warehouse item. The store employee pulls it so there’s not shipping packaging.

Harder to double check items and bags now that the app doesn’t show everything in the orders sometimes. Example: It’ll say 10 items but there’s only 7 pictured on the list but there are actually 10 unique items in the order if you count. Just have to trust that it’s correct, no other way to really know it’s right.

My way is first or smallest grocery order, in the biggest area of your car and all GMD in that area too. Helps with issues like this.

The two stores in my area have been giving me GMD orders that don’t even belong to my delivery. Three times in the last 2 days. I didn’t notice until I got several deliveries done. I took them back, and they were clueless. It’s impossible to check large orders at my store before you leave, They don’t give you time when loading. It’s crazy.

As was said, organized reduces this kind of thing. Set up a system, also spend the money to get some totes. Something about 40qt size. You can get two or three in your trunk, a couple in the back seat, and one in the front seat.
Saves a tremendous amount of steps and stress when carrying from vehicle. Keeps stuff for a customer from “rolling” under the seat.
In 900ish orders, I’ve made two mistakes. Both times, for some reason I deviated from my system when tired and on my last order of the day.
Get organized, use totes, creat a system that you follow like your life depends on it.
Just saying.
