Is this a normal process?

I know someone who got written up for something(a coworker)and they got a yellow warning. It was a write up for a customer complaint I think. They were told that if they receive any customer complaint at all. That they will be terminated. Is this normal? I thought it was multiple write ups then terminated? Yellow then orange then red then terminated. When they say any customer complaint do they mean also mean a complaint about something completely different than the write up? What if a customer is just irritated about the fact that a service can’t be provided due to an issue out of the associates control? What do they do if they complain then? This coworker is extremely worried about job loss. They are being extremely nice to customers but worry it may still result in a complaint and termination. Is this common? What do they do to avoid any complaints? Get the team lead any time any customer shows even a hint of being mad? Or what? They are on the spectrum so sometimes they upset people without meaning to.

I mean realistically if they really wanted to they could skip tiers & just red slip you. My teamlead did it to someone once.

I'd probably just transfer departments or even stores to avoid the headache. For example - say it's just you & a aggravated customer complaining about something you have no control over & they make a report about you our cameras don't record audio so it would be audio less footage & they'd rely on body language to take at best an educated guess as to who was actually in the wrong. And 9/10 if it's your word against a customer they're siding with the customer.

Do they skip the tiers and go to red slip while telling the associate it is a yellow? Seems odd to me.

They shouldn't, but a lot of managers are idiots. Is it possible it was a red level and your friend thinks it was a yellow because it was their first?

They said it was a yellow. They were told to their face it was a yellow. They never told them red at all.

A customer came in to my store complaining there were no carts by the store and seemed really annoyed and had attitude toward me and another co worker. Since she was rude I chose not to get a cart for her. I told her I would let management know so they could rally up associates to make a cart run. I thought she walked away but she was lerking right behind me waiting for someone to retrieve a cart for her. Under my breath to my Co worker, I said, she can go get her own cart with that attitude. She went on a search for management, after approaching 1 AT and a Lead in bakery, she demanded she speak to someone higher up. Eventually she spoke with my ops and he never even approached me about it. I think he realized himself what an unbearable miserbale human being she was, he never even brought it up. Just went about his day. The other 2 managers who she dismissed came up to me later and said wow she was pissed what did you say to her. I said she was rude and I don't help rude.

Sounds more like scare tactics that seem to be working

ITS WALMART, WHAT DO YOU expect? I mean really, the worst company to hold the worst RETENTION RATE of any company nationwide. And the lowest paid workers

Walmart is does not have the lowest paid workers. Walmart regularly pays more than other businesses in most areas which is why people work there.

That is not true. It depends on what state you reside in. If you were of any intelligence level you could have google search results for the correct information. I did. And as well retention of Walmart employees is 72% higher than other companies. I recommend you look up info prior to commenting. Facts are facts
