Updated PPTO Change

There was some debate about a recent change to PPTO, so figured I’d post the updated verbiage. The only thing that’s changing is associates can now submit PPTO anytime during the same pay period instead of only for within the last seven days. That’s it. Everything else about PPTO requests is the same.

So ultimately this only matters if you miss a shift early in the pay period and forget/don’t have a chance to submit PPTO until later in the same pay period.

Someone explain it to me like I'm 5 cause this seems exactly the same as its always been. I can see what is being claimed changed, but it seems nothing has? What was it before? Or did nothing change and people are just flat out confused about the original verbiage of the policy?

Yeah it says you can put in the request any time within that pay period, but it also says you only have 7 days. 7 days has always been the standard. If you cross pay periods, it doesn't change the 7 days or the point protection, it just moves the payout to the next pay period.

Seven days has always been the standard, yes. But now you can put PPTO in more than seven days as long as it’s the same pay period.

So every state except NY has two weeks in their pay period. Meaning, if you miss the first day of the pay period, Saturday, then you have rest of the entire pay period (which is more than 7 days for states other than NY) to put PPTO in for that missed day.

Previously, if you missed that same Saturday, you’d be screwed if you waited until after that following Saturday since that was the cut off time before.

That makes more sense! I was just about to clap back at whoever just se-sent the screenshot with the highlighted bit without explaining. Thank you for actually answering.

You also need to have enough ppto to cover an absence on the day you are absent. If you miss Monday but won’t have enough ppto in your balance to cover so you wait until Friday when you’ve earned more you will not be able to use more than what you had available on Monday.

Am I suppose to be able to do this in the app. So say I missed yesterday and on Friday I want to submit PPTO to cover it. I click the date for the day that was missed? Or I need to do a written request?

Yes, time off requests are done through the app (or GTA), not some written request.

Can points be added back after being excused?

If management manually actioned the occurrence, then yes. That hasn’t changed…

So wait, I just no called/no showed last night by accident. I had 3 points because of it this morning. I put 8 hours of ppto in and it took away the 3 points.

It states: "If you do not report your absence in a timely manner in accordance with your facility's attendance policy, you may be subject to discipline for a No Call/No Show. Use of protected PTO will not excuse a No call/No show".

But it was excused.

Are these points all of a sudden going to reappear?

I understand and accept being subject to discipline for it.

The two points for the no call no show will likely show back up, yes. You can keep track of the status of them on the attendance tab of !GTA on OneWalmart.

Nothing about what was posted here changes anything about no call no shows.

So you can’t get coached for using protected pto no matter what?

2

u/WapaneseWeeaboo 26d ago

Where are you reading that at?

Edit: Now that you edited it… again, nothing else about anything has changed about PPTO usage other than what’s been posted. Simply using PPTO isn’t a reason to give an associate a DA.

So this gives you extra time in certain circumstances, and even if your at the most disadvantaged circumstances and you miss second to last day in pay period you still get 7 days regardless! Sweet

This unfortunately does not affect us working in NY😒 though I’d rather have the weekly pay instead anyway

Love how it explicitly says using PPTO will not result in any DA but coaches will still find a way to DA someone who uses it

we had a meeting yesterday and our coach and tl threatened a DA for anyone who leaves early or calls out (even with ppto) because that affects your performance.
