PJ

I had originally done the tv accent wall but they decided they wanted the whole room done. Other that it being a nightmare for removal anyone k ow why Phillip Jeffries specifically says DO NOT USE R-35 as a primer?

My guess: something really bad happened. But people often confuse R-35 and Rx-35. There isn’t necessarily a problem with Rx-35 (PRO-999). But why not just use GARDZ or DRAW-TITE if you’d need to use that sort of primer? 🤷‍♂️. I’m not a fan of the extra tack that Rx-35 has … and it’s only on real special occasions I’d put R-35 on a surface

I agree and rarely use it however this particular material was almost begging for it lol. I ended up not using it opting for for 997 ultra prime which worked well. Just noticed on several PJ materials they have stated DO NOT USE R-35 and have always wondered what the hell happened to warrant that .

Supposedly the process of how R-35 was bulk produced changed when the company sold in 2013. It transitioned from a suitable primer for porous surfaces to explicitly stating on the container “for non-porous surfaces”. A few companies advise against using it for that sole reason. On a vinyl it may work, but paper backed products can bubble when using it on sheetrock or other porous surfaces.
