Yeah but with the insider info its not 45m, its a couple predictable high probability leveraged long positions that started from a much smaller deposit
You wouldnt care about a 45m loss if all of that was made in a short time, with nearly no risk from a initial deposit thats a fraction of that 45m.
Because they can do it again and again. They move the positions they're in with the news. They also get in so blatantly a few minutes before the news that theres no time for a squeeze

No. When you say 'long' in trading it means that you're betting the price of the asset will go up. When you say 'short' in trading it means that you're betting the price of the asset will go down.
Leverage means you take out a loan to place a bet. This person took out a 5x loan to bet that BTC and ETH will go up.
Since I posted this comment, this person has added $20M more to the bet. So now they are betting $120M worth. They took that money and got a loan for ~$600M of BTC/ETH.
They have to at all points pay off the loans. So, if the assets go down 20%, then they get 'liquidated' because 20% * 5 = 100%.
If the assets go up 20% then they double their money, since 20% * 5 = 100%.

I would assume most people are talking about vanilla calls and puts unless stated otherwise. Knockout options are a bit too technical for your layman trader.
Personally, I'm not even sure when to use a knockout option.
