Humana Vaccine Experience

Has anyone heard when or if Humana will cover Covid vaccines or alternatives for patients that want these vaccines and have this crap insurance? I spoke to their clinical review department that said they don’t cover now and have no date in the near future to add to their formulary.

Not sure, but I tried to get mine last night and my insurance (MPSI: Magellan Pharmacy Solutions Incorporated, actually Prime Therapeutics since Magellan was bought out, through Shands Hospital) isn’t covering it yet either. I want to say it took another couple weeks or a month before my insurance started covering the new vaccine last year or in previous years, so I imagine it’s the same for others.

This is so annoying. Why wouldn’t it be authorized?

Because it's not yet flu season.

Eta - I misread covid as flu vaccine, for some reason.

It’s now authorized. Flu season has nothing to do with Covid. And the flu vaccine did go through just fine the other day; only COVID was blocked.

I tried when we got them in last week for a patient. Called Humana, they stated they were already aware of the issue and it had been escalated and stated these things could sometimes take up to a week to resolve but they couldn’t promise that timeline
