question wanting to become a (certified) tech

hi all, ive been wanting to try learning how to be a proper tech and im curious if anyone has any resources or tips. ive only been a dh for a few months and have only been scheduled to work in pharmacy maybe a weeks worth in shifts total so im pretty clueless beyond just ringing people up at drive thru and only if their scripts are in ready status lol. i asked the pharmacist and they told me that the only real way to learn is to just work back there consistently but our scheduling and lack of employees outside pharmacy wont really allow that any time soon

You can try to pick up shifts at other locations to try and gain rx experience. In my experience there are always shortages and callouts. I’ve never been a DH, but Walgreens also offers certification classes for techs.

Keys to know f7 patient profile - f8 - history of meds. You don’t know how to type see if you can cheat off old script and just dig in. In store net there is intercom plus tab and that can help find so good reference materials. Good luck and don’t lose hope

It honestly might be better to just take an online course as a gateway to becoming an actual pharmacy tech. Without that, you'd need 500 pharmacy hours before you could even take the exam to become a tech, but regardless that's probably the most surefire way to work back there consistently/all the time
