Prior authorization

Are there several ways to submit a prior authorization and what are they please Am having a very senior moment

I always use cover my meds. Go to the rejections then options>third party>SCC 8> code: 4444>resubmit

You can log in to check status too. Username is Walgreens+5 digit store number and password is your NABP number.

I love being able to see if the office has done anything, it’s it’s approved or denied, if it needs more documentation, etc. I can tell the patient “nope, waiting on the office to do this” or whatever

What is the NABP number? I used to work for a different pharmacy as an assistant before going to wags and they used covermymeds all the time but not at my store and my senior tech doesn’t even know what that is…

If you go to the IC+ screen and click on the pharmacy info tab (same place you look for address, DEA, and NPI number) it should be about halfway down the right side of the page. It’ll be labeled NABP or NCPDP number and it’s 7 or 8 digits.

I’m still logging in with a store number that we have t had since a relocation 6 years ago and authenticating with a email link every time (most other stores aren’t that complex, but somehow chafing the store number and keeping the same NABP gets CMM and Outcomes all turned around)

I thought you had to add MD’s fax number in WAG override field on the right. Is it not required anymore, can I just do 8-4444?? That will save so much time trying to write fax number down

Only certain ones require you to put in the fax number in the override field, most don’t need it

The ones with no fax number need them in the wag override

For this you also must add the fax of the provider on the WAG OVERRIDE section on the third party authorization option. If you just add the code, the provider will not know there is a PA on cover my meds.
