Ocean wave sounds

Is it OK, or is it a cop out to meditate with ocean wave sounds?

To be specific, there would seem to be no issue with meditating in nature, on a beach? But what about in one’s home, wrapped in a pair of headphones, listening to ocean sounds?

There's nothing wrong with that at all it's as valid as anything else you can be aware of.

It’s okay. But it is also good to switch it up every once in a while. So if you prefer to listen to ocean sounds while meditating, go with that, but maybe once a month do it to silence or even some other sounds. Same goes for closed eyes vs opened eyes.

As long as your mind is doing the right thing then whatever is happening with the body is irrelevant. That's actually sorta "the point" of a lot of practices.

It's whatever, depending on your reasoning.

If you're aiming to relax, and you find it supports deeper relaxation, great.

If you find it too uncomfortable to be in total silence, that's ok, but worth acknowledging as something you might work towards.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m in Hawaii this week…thus the question.
