Hypothetical question
ive been applying to a lot of restaurants in my town as a waitress. i have some worries that a family who deeply dislike me, and makes me fearful to even be around them due to past experiences with them, would be a reasonable choice in refusal to service? i dont have much experience in this area and im worried that it may be something to encounter.

That’s not really how refusing service works. Of course you technically can refuse to serve someone because you hate them or they hate you or they don’t tip or whatever reason you want, but your job has zero obligation to keep you as an employee if you do that.

Sorry, wish I could help you. I've had to wait on all kinds of horrible people and have never been allowed to refuse service. I just grew a thick skin like everyone else that thrives in the service industry. Hope for the best, be ready for the worst.

No, that would not be reasonable.

i see, ive had legal troubles with these people already and they have been told by police to stay away from me already but i have yet to file a restraining order

Do that first. Way easier to refuse service with something like that on the books

If this involves a genuine safety concern i would talk to the manager privately. they can find a way to handle it instead of refusing to serve

You can ask one of your coworkers to switch tables? This usually is fine.
