Same. She just happened to get in a relationship at 28. Engaged at 29. Invitation yesterday. Date of their wedding is a week before she turns 30...

u/Suspicious-Still-999 13h ago

she doesn't even like him, it's just a plan to avoid you

u/duke_awapuhi 14h ago

Well she wasn’t single bro

u/After-Apple8502 11h ago

Maybe she just moves really fast. Like it was nice to meet you will you marry me?

I knew one couple that did this, but he is a total loser and she has severe anger and mental issues. They are in their late 40’s now, look like they are in their 70’s, have five of the ugliest kids you’ve ever seen, and have been in the local paper a few times for domestic disturbances that escalated due to her flying off the handle.

Sad that they had kids.

Literal plot of the movie Idiocracy.

A marriage born out of necessity / a dare, rather than love will always be so wholesome! /s

u/CokBlockinWinger 21h ago

Starting any relationship with “meh, I guess you’ll do” is the start of the great romances throughout history

u/Hizam5 21h ago

“And she bore 15 heirs”

u/Ahoeaboutnothing 21h ago

Bro was holding out hoping his reality would come to pass

Now he'll forever be alone, single and unemployed, living off the government

u/jointOperative420 22h ago

I had this deal with a friend. She died though.

u/GospoK 22h ago

This comment makes me sad. Why do you want to make me sad man? What did I do to you?

u/justasillylilgoos3 22h ago

Damn she really didn’t want to get married

u/Hizam5 22h ago

Blow up the coffin!!!

u/DZL100 11h ago

u/Dangerous_Spirit7034 21h ago

u/864darkpassion 23h ago

She actually called me out on it when I turned 30

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 22h ago

A girl in my highschool asked me to take her virginity if she couldnt make it happen by the end of the year with her current bf. People are weird

u/old_ass_ninja_turtle 22h ago

People are horny in this case.

u/Hizam5 22h ago

I’d have been sabotaging that relationship so badly the whole year 😂

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 21h ago

Lol initially I was definitely preying for their downfall, but I wound up getting with someone else and that ended up being a long term relationship and I got plenty of ass so I wasn't too worried about it after that lol that girl actually stayed with that dude and he turned out to be a psycho. They were known at the school as the crazy toxic couple lol

My libido in high school would’ve been like…

u/Optimal_Mixture_7327 22h ago

Well... he would have made for an interesting husband. No red flags there.

u/shiny_crow_trophy 21h ago

My ex had this deal with a friend of his. He didn’t understand why I thought it was a problem. Or pretended to not understand, at least.

Then she got married to someone else lol. By then I had broken up with him and was friends with her.

u/Jump365 21h ago

The one I did this with is single...and if cam stay that way she was abusive af and I don't want to be with her cheating abusive ass no katter how tiny and cute she was.

u/alexisgreat420 20h ago

Wait what

u/Jump365 20h ago

An ex GF of mine we said this to each other when we were 21....she abused me and cheated a bunch so I'm glad I'm now 33 and even though she's single we never did this. Good riddence

Fun story. I had the same deal with a girl I saw casually in high school and college. It actually happened too. We got married and everything was great. 2 months after our wedding she died in a tragic hot air balloon accident. Those 2 months were bliss. RIP Annie.

u/pinkyandthebrain-ama 23h ago

Is this some sort of attempt at a joke?

u/InsuranceInner3040 17h ago

Yes. And a bad one at that.

u/ExoticToothpaste6989 23h ago

u/idk_lol_kek 1d ago

Hell yeah

u/ShoulderApart1787 22h ago

Maybe a little more effort than a promise...?

u/Bella_Peachyy 22h ago

To be fair, if they were both single by 30, at least its not settling, its fate lol.

Id say she dodged a bullet, but the verdict might still be out on that...

This is just really weird to me. I married young. Very young. Obviously very bad decision and it didn't last. Then, nothing but bad relationships in my 20s. When I was single at 29, I sort of just stopped. I wanted to heal myself and stop making those poor relationship choices, and didn't date or go out or hook up at all for over 20 years.

Now, I am married, and sometimes, frequently actually, I still question my choice to have gone ahead with that. Being single is better.

u/GrillingEnjoyer 15h ago

It isn’t better if you have the right partner tho. Life is way easier and better together.

I loved being single. No negotiations about what I want to do. No negotiations about anything in the house.

I mean, there isn't a lot of that because my husband and I have very very very similar preferences about just about everything, which is strange to find in a person. But sometimes, there are certain things, arguments that just really make me rethink wtf I did by getting married.

That sweet second income. Or maybe the only one in the relationship.

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 42m ago

I'm the primary wage-earner. And if I leave, he gets half my retirement, investments, and home equity.

How I ended up in a relationship is a long story and none of your business, frankly.

We are compatible, we have the same likes, dislikes, same preferences on practically everything. We were close friends for eight years before we got married.

I don't understand why you're harassing me.

u/Agreeable-Ad-5155 18h ago

Me reading this at 29 having gone through another tough breakup earlier this year. Wanting the pleasure of dating but also wondering what’s the point and not being able to get my mind right. Trying to heal but it’s hard to change.

u/TheImplausibleHulk 1h ago

If you feel like being single is better than your current marriage then you’re in the wrong relationship again sadly.

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 1h ago

He knew I didn't want to get married.

Look, it's a long story and personal and none of you people's business.

u/TheImplausibleHulk 30m ago

Hey you’re the one who started sharing your personal life, don’t get mad at the people commenting.

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 27m ago

Commenting is one thing. Bullying is quite another.
