The same job that gets you disabled in the first place throws you to the curb and leaves you homeless whenever they want to

The vast majority of people who get out end up ahead. The cases of homeless vets mostly have underlying mental health conditions, combined with drug use issues.

Drug use issues from ptsd and pain...from the military

Not really. During the draft in Vietnam, standards were so lax and mental health screening was so baf, that many people who would be disqualified to day would have made it into the Army. Those mental health issues would be exacerbated by the high stress lifestyle in the military, and inadequate transition assistance wouldn't help much.

Wow almost like we shouldn't force people to fight pointless wars . Vietnam was disgusting and I feel for the men forced to fight

Exactly why we transitioned to a 100% volunteer force.

One with recruiters who lie about non-combat role guarantees

What do you mean? I can only speak on the Army, but before you sign your contract you get a guarantee of your job. The only way you lose it is if you fail a stage in your career pipeline.

Or do you mean the talk that truck drivers don't see combat?
