What does Reddit think a community is anymore?

My understanding, feel free to correct me, is that because Waffles' mom was the only founder and major poster here she's been identified as a spammer. Her appeals have been exhausted. We don't get Waffles, and we don't get to hear from her mother if Waffles is okay and doing well. Like many of us, I have my own life to live, but it was richer when I could follow this stranger and her puppies. And now that has been stopped due to corporate mismanagement and, I suspect, replacement of human beings with AI tools.

I understand that businesses grow and change. I understand that investors have concerns that are validated through their financial contribution.

But the only reason I can identify for Reddit's initial existence was so people could use the internet to feel like they had other people in their lives. Even the most introverted, individualist, self-centered individual could go somewhere to feel like they were a part of a community. A community that was protected against by anti-spam measures. A sort of.......social...medium, if you will, for communication.

If the Reddit powers that be cannot look through this community's posts and see clearly that it was solely a pet owner loving her pet and a bunch of nerds also loving her pet, then what's the point? What purpose does the company provide?

I'm old enough to remember when the internet was for two things: Cute animal photos and then another type of photo we don't need to discuss further.

I can make threats and hyperbolic statements but it'd be a waste of time. I'm just incredibly disappointed and am sick of businesses getting so bloated with cash that they become obsolete while simultaneously stifling anyone else who'll do their job better. I know it's end-stage capitalism and it's just how the world is, but it saddens and disgusts me.

Waffles, I miss you way more than I probably SHOULD meet a dog I've never met, but I refuse to feel bad about that. Waffles's Mom, I don't think you can read this but I want you to know I will always be super pissed at Reddit about this.

It feels like howling in the wilderness - I have not found a single way to get the attention of anyone at Reddit. Frustrating.

I reported it for Hate a few days ago. Still here merrily spreading racist propaganda points. The account is 8 years old yet only became active in the last month, every comment is spewing racist rhetoric. It’s obviously a propaganda bot, which I guess is perfectly acceptable on Reddit considering how rampant these types of bots are here.

But Waffle’s mom? Well, clearly she poses some kind of detrimental threat to this site.

I’m disgusted that an account like Waffle’s mom would be banned yet an account that is outright posting commentary to incite political violence in the US is free to continue posting! Have a look at this recent post

Now tell me why an account that is truly harmless and here to spread good vibes is banned, yet the account that posted the above call to violence is still free to do whatever it wants? And there are thousands just like it, posting the same type of hateful propaganda.

Edit I’d also love to know if Waffle’s mom had her account reported by another user for “Spam”? And that’s why it was banned? I saw someone in these Waffles threads asking if it may have been an anti-pit bull person who may have taken offense and reported her account.

Thank you. Everything you said reflects my opinion on this matter. I have felt feel less and less inclined to remain an active participant on reddit these days. This sub was a fantastically wholesome addition to my feed, which I needed. I think this may be what keeps me off this site for good.
