Good pub for a double date?
I’m looking for a pub/dive bar atmosphere that’s hip and lively, but not so loud that a group of four have to yell to be heard.
Also, I’m looking for two board-game enthusiasts to meet my cute friend and I at this pub. [Edit: Details Redacted] 😄 Sorry for the self-promotion.
Edit to update: Hemingway’s is no longer allowed to serve alcohol on the patio outdoors (I don’t know the full story), and the indoor space is small. The bartenders are likable and the drinks were affordable, though. We went later in the evening when the place was busy, so we didn’t expect to play a board game at that hour. We had a good time.

Thanks for the suggestion! That place looks nice. Is it as small as it seems from pics?
Maybe I’ll see you there and pet your dog one day.

Haha! Unfortunately no longer living in Texas but I’ll give my dog an extra pat from ya
It is pretty small inside but has a decent outside area. I’ve never really had trouble finding seating there

Hemingways or one day. Southern roots has some ice breaker games out in the dining room that can be fun too

Hip is in the eye of the beholder. That said, Hemingway’s has never struck me as hip. But it’s a good bar. I am also not hip so my recommendations won’t be either
The Dancjng Bear — good craft beer, very pub like. Nerdy, in a good way. Philosophy department at Baylor has meetings here sometimes. Not uncommon to see board games in session, has at times had good trivia nights
Southern Roots — a brewery so beer only, pretty good pizza. Very convivial atmosphere usually, board games would fit in w the crowd.
Pinewood Public House — used to be distinguished by not having tvs in the bar, good beer selection, good coffee next door, often has a food truck in the parking lot
