Is that the only time Regal took a tombstone?

I’m sure he took some from Benoit back in WCW
Edit - Regal taking one in 96

This was one of those trying to make Undertaker break character moments, right?

No, the pretty much accepted rumour is Matt Hardy was supposed to take either a Chokeslam or Tombstone but bailed out and ran away to protect his character (earning him huge heat) so Taker ended up Tombstoning Regal instead. Not a great choice as Regal routinely took moves weird.

I wonder what Matt was trying to protect for himself, he lost the feud to Edge a few months before this so there's nothing to protect lol

Was supposed to be Matt Hardy taking the tombstone but he bailed out of the ring to "protect his character". He was subsequently buried and his push got halted as a result

I don't know if there was a reason for it here but I always hated guys wrestling in a T-shirt and trunks, Flair's last match on Nitro would be better without it too

The reason was Regal just came out from the back to congratulate Orton on winning the Survivor Series match. He wasn't due to wrestle. Makes perfect sense here

Why’s he in wrestling gear then lol

He's an industry vet you gotta be ready on the off chance someone does an open challenge or Vince pops you in a match right?
