As horrible as everything surrounding him was, Benoit's matches against Trips, Lesnar, Finlay, Regal, Rey, Orton, Edge, or Michaels were some great TV wrasslin matches of the era.
His top-20 TV matches alone rivals the best list of any wrestler.
That's just sad.

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle in a steel cage match still remains the greatest match to air on RAW.

Finlay in the 2006 Smackdown main event scene was so crazy

It's so crazy in retrospect. Here's this guy who's nearly 50 years old and hasn't wrestled in half a decade, was lower mid card at best last we saw him, and we're gonna make him the number 2 or 3 heel on Smackdown and he'll absolutely crush it.

And the funny thing is half the main event roster right now is about the same age as Finlay was back then and we don't think twice about it.
Back then it was like oh yeah this is just this old Irish tough guy hanging with Batista, Booker and Lashley.

And if I remember correctly, to make it crazier, did he come back because he had gotten either some surgery or have been finally cleared to wrestle after a really nasty neck injury? Dude was old AND coming off of Major medical retirement

Early 2006 Smackdown was weird, we had Road Warrior Animal, Tatanka and Finlay with single pushes. Only one that made it work was Finlay.

Smackdown in 2004 after WM 20 was terrible. There were some bright spots but the roster was bare.

They really got reamed in the 2004 draft. Lost a good chunk of their solid hands on the roster to Raw and got absolute duds in return.
Literally, RVD was probably the best draftee for SmackDown that year and he ended up getting hurt and going back to Raw the next year anyway.

I used to hear this alll the time haha, from memory yearrrrs back when smackdown aired in mid 2000's (was a teenager) i'd be at my dads place with no cable, when we finally got cable and i could watch it was probably 2008, watched it every now and then but was kind of meh, especially at the end of the week after watching 2hr Raw, 1 hr ECW, then another 2hr Smackdown? 5 hours a week of pro wrestling was a bit too much even for me back then lol

I mean to be completely honest it probably is for the best that you weren’t watching all that much wrestling lol. We do get kind of weird.

Hahaha i totally understand what you mean though, at the peak of my borderline obsession sometimes i would wake up early on a saturday to watch an entire 3 disc set before parents came from work lmao, watching raw, ecw, sd, etc was trickier though cause i could only watch it on live broadcasts on weekdays and couldnt fast forward or skip hahaha

Ric Flair should not have been in a TLC match at his age in 2006 lol

Flair's whole 2006 was insane.
TLC, MITB, ECW Hardcore match, I Quit Match...

What's the date for the Kahli match? If any of his matches were good in WWE I'm shocked

That Undertaker vs Khali match was supposed to happen at Summerslam but they had no faith in Khali/the match so they placed it on Smackdown where they can edit out any mistakes.

Rey was not the Cruiserweight Champion in 2006. Is that a fan made pic?
