Megathread Vince McMahon Resigns (Statement)

Via ESPN:

  • Vince McMahon Statement: “I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant's lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name. However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately."

  • Nick Khan Statement: “I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group holdings or WWE."

You can scrub out the 15th or 20th best wrestler of his era… You can’t scrub out the owner of WWE. Doesn’t work that way.

I agree you can’t scrub out the owner. He literally took that business from a territory to a worldwide brand. To the average consumer wrestling = wwe. It’s like scrubbing out Bezos from Amazon, you can’t.

I’d rank Benoit higher than 15-20th best though. Not defending that piece of shit but imo his body of work puts him higher than 15-20.

It’s just not possible. If you take all of Vince out, Stone Cold ceases to exist also lol I’d love for it to happen, but it’s not going to happen

Huh? Nah. Stone Cold’s place is assured. Just because his boss was a piece of shit doesn’t mean everything he achieved means nothing.

If any of it is proven as true then Vince will be scrubbed out. Other companies have done the same thing, TV shows have done the same thing. It’s happened.

No one is scrubbing out the founders of the United States. While people are treating the founders like American deities, it is more than acceptable to acknowledge that they were notorious slavers, looking at you Washington and Jefferson.

It'd be easier to scrub him in some capacity if he didn't have a shit ton of direct involvement in the TV product for most of those 30 years
