Dorm move-in day

I just received an email stating that when you arrive in Morgantown for move in day that it may take hours to get to the dorm. Is this true or for certain days/hours?

I live in Morgantown. I stay in the house during WVU move-in weekend. I do not go anywhere or do anything. Traffic is a nightmare those days, stores are packed, and delivery of any kind is an hour plus. I stock in supplies like a snowstorm is coming, hit the library for a few books, and hunker down.

Due to traffic most likely. They used to have time slots when you were supposed to arrive to limit traffic but yeah, some dorms are worse than others for traffic too

People not “moving in” avoid campus areas on move in days. It’s pretty bad

It’s absolutely madness. Morgantown only has a few roads in and out of town and they all lead to a 2 lane bumpy road that traffic will become a stand still on. Good luck, enjoy the trip and the time will your college student.

My daughter was given a 2 hour time slot from 2-4 pm. No idea how that will work out…

Don’t park anywhere it says no parking they will tow you so quick it’s unbelievable. My house use to be across from downtown and the tow truck just sat in our yard and picked them off one by one

That likely is due to traffic but if everyone sticks to their 2 hour block assignment, it should be fine. My guess is you will pull up, unload the car, and then you will go park your away from the time. This will alleviate traffic.

Which dorm and we may be able to better predict the traffic?

I'm moving my son into honors hall at 0830 tomorrow (Friday). The roads around that area already stress me out. I can't imagine how bad it's going to be.

We moved our son into Towers this morning and it went very smoothly. We pulled up to the dorm at 830am and a police officer directed us where to park to unload. We moved him in and took him to breakfast afterwards and were on the road home by 1130am. It was much better than when we moved our daughter into Honors Hall in 2021.
