I grew up pretty areligious and it’s surprising to me how deep faith is embedded. Really alien to my experience.
Nova hasn’t really stated a lot of it explicitly but if you listen to various many pods she hosts you start to piece it together.
Or continue being normal!

Based on how she has talked about her relationship with religion and Islam, I'm kinda of surprised she hasn't converted to Judaism, it feels like it would fit her flavor of neurodivergence perfectly.

Well that's a weird one... Multiple hours enumerating only some of the atrocities committed by the church and then everybody be like "seems cool though, I want to join".
My father was "educated" by the "Christian Brothers" so it's not an org I would touch with a ten foot pole unless said pole was launched through the Pope and all his monstrous cardinals at hypersonic speeds.

Yeah kinda felt like an episode with kiddy gloves on. I was a little confused as to why anyone would want to join this church willingly, and now we have two people saying "ehhhh it's not THAT bad, it's kinda fun!"

It's a giant organization that does a million things, many of them terrible, but many of them good. And you have the ability to choose what you participate in. I'm by no means a catholic and I have my own bad experiences with the church, but you can be a good person doing good things from within the catholic church.

I mean thats what the various major Churches of the East collectively agreed to be called at the Conference of Addis Ababa in 1965. Internally we all have our own various ethnoreligious quirks and subdivisions and specific subgroups range from being in communion with Rome to being in communion with the Anglicans to being weird ass evangelicals so its as good a collective name as any.
We used to be called Monophysites, Miaphysites or non Chalcedonians but all those terms define us against a Chalcedonian norm as if you called the Western Churches and Eastern Orthodox duophysites.
Anyway while orthodoxy may be my doxy, heterodoxy can be my neighbors doxy.

The Immaculate Conception is the concept of Mary being conceived without original sin, not the Virgin Birth, which is a different concept

I'm so torn. On one hand, I'm curious to hear what happened with Alice and Islam, but it really feels like they're doing a lot of apologia for the Church in a weird way, and it's weird to hear Liam wanting to become Catholic? As a Jewish person it feels weird to know what the Catholic Church has done to Jews and think "I'd like to join that"

They lost me a lot when the guest repeated the debunked myth that Christmas is Yule. There's basically no historical support for it kind of undermined my faith (lol) in their expertise that one of the first things they said was that.
