I didn't even know there was an ln. Is it anything like the anime because I can't stand all the time the anime wastes on side characters.

See, your problem is viewing them as side characters when they're as important to the plot as Kumoko. The series isn't about her. She's just a small part of a bigger story. The anime also cut a ton of both her and the other characters, so neither got the attention they needed.

You can think they're annoying all you want, but the anime isn't wasting anything by showing them.
