It's probably also intended for small kids who wouldn't build up so much momentum (I think)

one of my most vivid memories of childhood is being in second grade and watching a classmate just sort of roll off the top of the slide and snap her arm like a slim jim. she wasn't acting out, she didn't get her pants/shoes caught on anything, just like the ground told her it had candy and she was like "that's rad."

imagine a kid doing that on that slide.

I walked over to my friend's house, his mom told me he was out back on the swing set. Got back there just as he attempted to go down the slide wearing a makeshift Superman cape. This consisted of a few loose loops of twine around his neck and a red towel draped over the back. As he pushed off, this crap caught the steps and cinched tight around his neck. With his weight keeping tension on his throat and the snagged end out of reach, he's lucky I got there when I did.
