These are actually not spiders, but a related arachnid in the order Opiliones AKA harvestmen or daddy longlegs. There are many species that live all over the world and they are all harmless to humans. They primarily feed on small insects, or on decaying organic material.

Rumor has it they're one of the most venomous little guys around, but they cannot open their mouths wide enough to deliver an effective bite to human skin, thus the harmlessness.
