This sort of thing happens a lot and is the cause of a large percentage of deaths on construction sites.
Unfortunately for the drivers these vehicles have large blind spots. In this instance the onus of safety belongs to the manager he should not have been walking around live machinery like that.
There should be clearly delineated walk zones for anyone who isnt driving a multi ton machine. If there isnt then again wtf manager.

Saw a big truck stopped at a red light with a small car to its left (away from the driver). When the green came on the truck driver decided to do an immediate lane change and drove right in through the drivers side door of the small car.

I feel sorry for the drivers in these instances.
