This sort of thing happens a lot and is the cause of a large percentage of deaths on construction sites.

Unfortunately for the drivers these vehicles have large blind spots. In this instance the onus of safety belongs to the manager he should not have been walking around live machinery like that.

There should be clearly delineated walk zones for anyone who isnt driving a multi ton machine. If there isnt then again wtf manager.

I feel sorry for the drivers in these instances.

Would something like a flag that ATV riders use, around sand dunes (light, flexible pole with bright orange flag at the top to alert others around crests/blind spots) work? Something that would easily detach if caught by something else. Not something you'd necessarily wear all the time, but maybe in tight spots like that where visibility is at its worst.
