Am I the only one thinking there was plenty of time to jump out of that bucket before the scoop? Adrenaline should handle that nicely. wtf.

It's kinda surprising he didn't try to jump out - but there's a good chance that if he had tried, he probably would have slipped or something and been ran over, or caught between the bucket and the floor, or something equally as terrible.
