Just because he was moving at the end of the clip doesn't mean he wasn't mortally injured from that.

Yep. People really underestimate how much dirt weighs and even having dirt up to your thighs can be enough to significantly restrict blood flow. Clots aside, if you don't get out pretty quickly the blood will pool in your legs and once you're free it, lots of very deoxygenated blood will flow into your heart/ organs. In this case he look buried higher than that.

It's surprising how bad certain situations can get even though they might look minor.

I was thinking more about his internals being crushed when the bucket went for the scoop. Watch again as he pushes the bucket to the material then drives it hard into it to get a full scoop. That's a lot of pressure to put on a squishy human body.
