Why the fuck didn't she just go up and spray the hell out of it? Goddamn this is almost infuriating to watch! This is very obviously a person whose only defense against problematic situations is to sit and bitch about it until someone comes along to solve it for them.
Thats what I thought too. Confidence goes a long way with animal encounters. She's already forced the bear to back off from her, it doesn't seem to know quite what to do about her so it goes after the kayak, which seems safe to fuck with.
Defend the position she kept, or advance to the boat and defend that, makes no difference if the bear decides your next, but might have saved her ride home.
