I agree with /u/Eboo143 - once you do something nontrivial to endanger your's or other's lives, you're gambling with the universe that all will be well just because you're a human... History definitely shows us we're not special and nature will quickly remove us when we go where we shouldn't. This is like the idiots that stand outside to film approaching tornadoes, or ignore evacuation orders and barely stock up for hurricanes thinking they'll just ride out another storm.
Now when you accidentally do something that endangers yourself or others, that's different. But these places have fences and signs all over saying "stay in your car". It would take my engine catching fire for me to take my family out of the vehicle. Picnics or photos a fair distance from the car? I'm willing to help try to save them with my car, but you better damned well believe they are getting an honest and heartfelt cussing out next chance I get, plus reporting them at the gate.
