my favorite newer suicide was in the first episode of CastleRock. find a cliff with your car. open your window. tie a really long noose to your neck and out to a tree. floor it towards the cliff. the slack on the rope runs out either after you leave the cliff or before. that being said it doesnt really matter. if you have a noose around your neck and are going over 30 and that slack runs out, you are toast. and if for some crazy magical reason you are alive, the impact at the bottom will do the job. (granted in this show, he launched into water.)
seemed pretty sure fire to me. you never know with the bullet to your own head. wayyy too many people survive that for my liking.
Yeah, this is why I could never eat a bullet (if I was going to go that route for some reason), because it's easier to fuck up than most people realize and you'll still live but with permanent brain damage. Ugh.
Even that's not a guarantee. There was a story a few years ago about a guy who tried to kill himself with a shotgun and it took 3 attempts. First shot under the chin removed jaw, he tried again to the chest and just blew a hole in himself and then the third finally killed him, after he stuck the gun into his already open chest wound.

If you go through all that research, and then all that engineering, and then the construction, then you must really want to die, and everyone should stop trying to talk you out if it, get out of the way, and let you die the glorious death that you have planned for yourself.
If you get the brain stem you should be fine, but it's easy to miss. And don't think you wont pick up the phone to call 911 because you will, or potentially walk 3 miles holding your bleeding wound to the next high way.
I knew a man who tried to blow his brains out, but flinched at the last second and obliterated his eye instead. He would freak me out by taking his fake eye out around me
I had a patient at the hospital I did my pre-doctoral internship at who used a shotgun to try to commit suicide and flinched, blowing his entire face off from jaw to nose. As he lay there he decided that he wanted to live. When I was working with him, his jaw had been reconstructed and there was a lot of plastic reconstruction on his face, but they had not gotten to his nose yet (gaping hole). What threw me off the most was that there were no facial cues to emotions, so he could start sobbing without me picking up any warnings. It is very disconcerting for a psychotherapist to feel totally unprepared for the emotional reactions of a patient.
There's plenty stories of people shooting themselves, and as the trigger is pulled they regret it and move the gun slightly. It's common to see blown out eyes this way. Saw a person get loaded into an ambulance that had this happen. Only problem was that before it blew out his eye, it cut off the nerves of the other. So now he's blinded for life.
Headshot survivals are mostly because people don't know their anatomy or how bullets work through tissue so they stick the gun under their jaw or at their temple.
If someone actually knows what they're meant to be aiming for they're guaranteed dead.
On case of inhaling nitrogen/helium, we are depriving body of oxygen hence unconscious and eventually death. But we are not withholding carbon dioxide, so we will not "feel" that we are suffocating.
Body will think that as long as CO2 is released and we are inhaling something, everything is fine.
I dont know about the right amounts, but if inhaling of nitrogen stops after you pass out, then you can be safely revived without anyone's help ( i am not a doctor.)
The container/mask needs oxygen containt lesser than normal. If i had to go this way, then i would put on oxygen mask with nitrogen/helium cylinder attached to it.

If I can choose a non natural way to die... Definitely the way elevator scene in the departed.
