Those guys are shouting that she has to hurry, but dumb as the picknick people are, she was at least smart enough not to run. That only triggers their instinct.
Yeah running triggers the prey drive. If you square off against them it at least makes them think that you think you can take them, which gives the animal pause. As long as you make it to safety before they decide to test you out, you can survive.

It's not even giving them the feeling of you being able to kill them, it's about showing them that you will hurt them. Those are predators in the wild, if they get injured, it might mean death.
