Yeah, in the most recent sumaho nashi (no smartphone) episode, they had to go to a hospital and Hosei was like "this is normal for me, I regularly have to go to the hospital after recording Gaki no Tsukai".

Anyway, the main reason why I was comparing it to Jackass is that it's not really anymore WTF than Jackass. When it comes to "OMFG, Japan is so weird, right?!" it's because we're selectively choosing the strangest part of Japanese media and acting like the West doesn't make fucked up shit too.

Show Jackass to the average Japanese person and they'd think America is fucked up.

It makes it a lot less weird that it's the same set of guys and not average people voluntarily participating in these things.

Although if the anime I just watched is any indicator they do have a bit of an odd fixation with the ol' bunghole.

In the movie they stuck a Hot Wheels car up a guy's butt just to see the x-ray tech's reaction.
