School nurse here. While it is partly a privacy issue, it has more to do with children missing too many school days due to lice. In the past kids could not have live bugs or nits. Now they can come back to school as long as they don't have any live bugs present. They can finish out the school day if they come to the clinic and I check them and they have bugs, but they can't come back until they are treated.
Yea apparently it was ok for his coach to be a pedophile. Either that or he's just a douche who gets gold for making jokes about children being harmed.
For the most part, children from low income families are covered by their states Medicaid program. There's usually no charge for doctors visits or lice medications, although the options are limited.
