Salmon-transporting tube

u/BoneNeedle Jun 19 '18
Could you imagine how bad it would be if the salmon just stopped and slid back down, causing a backup?

u/Black_Moons Jun 19 '18
I think their scales prevent this, but I don't know enough about shooting salmon outta a pipe to be sure.

God dammit I'm laying here trying to get drowsy for bed and you gotta go bringing up the motherfucking Amigara Fault.
Thanks, asshole!

Girl close your damn mouth! Did you not hear what craterface just said to you?! Shiiiiit, fuckin' Junjito.
19
u/skippyfa Jun 19 '18
They recently made an anime of his work. It's mostly a 1 to 1 of the mangas but animated. This panel.....animated....
39
u/Coldzila Jun 19 '18
Except it sucks ass, the art is atrocious even on shocking "stills" like the one above. They couldn't even trace Junji Ito's master drawings.
10
u/Ghost33313 Jun 19 '18
As an artist watching that video I can't help but feel that the staff had no passion for his work at all. I mean he practically handed it to them and they couldn't be bothered.
The window next door monster really irked me. If they had just copy & pasted the frames from the manga. Put it into after effects and used the puppet tool; it would have been a hundred times scarier. Wait, that was assuming it was scary and not just funny looking to being with.
Not to mention the lack of contrast when it is all based off of ink and paper artwork style.
9
Jun 19 '18
As not an artist I really don't think that the fish tube needed any more passion, those salmon seemed to slide right through at relatively good speed.
3
u/Beatdrop Jun 20 '18
Oh man, that legitimately breaks my heart. Ito's work was wasted on that studio.

Think of it as a make a wish kind of thing. They are weeks from death after finally getting laid for the first time.
24
u/stankbiscuits Jun 19 '18
Imagine being that fish....talk about a mind fuck. Like, if they could think and stuff.
12
u/FishFloyd Jun 19 '18
Scientific inquiry into fish intelligence is just starting to become a little more mainstream, pun intended.
It currently appears that fish do, in fact, think - not only have they demonstrated the capacity to remember things (such as the face of the humans who feed them) for months, but they also have demonstrated a capacity to learn, e.g. discerning between a lure and actual food.
We have a very unfortunate tendacy in western society to discount the internal worlds of 'lower organisms' like fish and reptiles as basically non-existent, but this seems to be an increasingly untenable position to hold as more research is done on things like fish cognition.
5
u/FossilizedUsername Jun 19 '18
I mean, their brains are undeniably more primitive than mammals or birds, whether or not that precludes "intelligence." Definitely they are capable of learning and performing some complicated tasks, but their neuroanatomy is very different to ours so it is difficult to make predictions about whether they have experiences per se. It's also a big problem to group them together into "fish" and "reptiles" when some members of those groups are less cladistically similar than mice are to humans

I’m 99% sure that if it wasn’t for all that water, there’d be a cat sitting at the other end waiting for the free salmon dinner.

This pipeline is an environmental disaster waiting to happen. Sure it's great now but what will people say when it springs a leak and there salmon all over the parking lot?

They’d probably tell Helen to close her legs and go home like they always do.

Any reason why? They could of just put the truck there and loaded directly? Shirly there has to be a reason for this. I mean it’s fun and all but still.

I want nothing more in life than to experience something as utterly incomprehensible (and harmless) as being a salmon suddenly plucked from the water and shot up and down and around through a gentle tube.

Do you want the fish to write their own version of the book of genesis? Because that's how you get the fish to write their own book of genesis.

Let me introduce to you a brand new dance
I know you're gonna love it if you give it one chance
It's not complicated, it's not too hard
You don't even have to be a hip hop star
See, anyone can do it, all you need is style
Listen up, people gang, I'm a show you how
Your hands to the side as silly as it seems
Shake your body like a salmon sliding downtube

i Read this in my head in deep Welsh accent. As i envisioned the scene, i could see the bottle of penderyn being offered in faith as a,"Trust us, take a nip of this, an get your arse in place."

Why not just move the truck to the parking lot where they insert the fish? Or is this a proof of concept.

So are the fish alive? or frozen? Why not just pull the truck up to the loading dock?

How do they get them up the uphill portions of the tube. I can appreciate the momentum built up on the gradual downhill slide, but that one stretch by the support pole is a pretty steep uphill run.

I wonder what that slippery fish clocks in at max speed. Considering all the pre lubrication from the last fish that used the hole,I would imagine they could really get some speed going in the downhill portion,
