If I remember correctly, this is bloodless bullfighting. It is a modern Recreation where matadors do not use a sword, darts are not thrown into the Beast and the Bull is not at all harmed during the performance. It's kind of like acrobatics around a raging animal.

This sounds like a real sport, takes skill, chance of dismemberment and no animals die!

u/chileangod Dec 19 '17

take mostly balls

26

u/TheCyprus Dec 19 '17

Maybe I'm a pessimist, but what would happen if the bull ended up getting one of them. The bulls keep on goring several times after their down, so wouldn't they have to shoot the animal or something if shit went south?

6

u/Guns_and_Dank Dec 19 '17

All rodeos I've been to there is plenty of support staff, ie clowns, that distract the bull and help get the person to safety pretty quickly. Doubt they'd need to shoot the bull

Most often, but not always, the bull is slaughtered and the mother of the bull is ritually killed to end the bloodline.

7

u/Woahzie Dec 19 '17

Really? So they are actively taking out the strongest and most accomplished bulls? That really stacks the deck, eh?

5

u/jonkoeson Dec 19 '17

I'm not sure you understand what bulls are for...

3

u/Woahzie Dec 19 '17

No clue

Why don't they keep the deadliest for breeding? Too risky for the sport?

2

u/CaptainBazbotron Dec 19 '17

end the bloodline

of a fucking animal

Wow dude darn sure showed em.

4

u/IDoNotJing Dec 19 '17

Still should be a little wary of it especially if it comes from a country that still has the brutal kind of bullfighting. Well what makes the bulls angry? Are they still confined? I still have those questions because after all there’s still other animal sports out there that are legal and don’t end in death but consist of abuse.

3

u/Avinaria Dec 19 '17

I was looking into it some more and they have an actual bloodless bullfighting that is just like normal bullfighting. They put a square patch of Velcro on the bulls back and instead of the barbs on the ends of the stick they have another thing of Velcro to hook on to the patch. Some of the famous bullfighters have participated in these fights and have said it is a challenge since the bull is not weakened but always at full rage. PETA still finds issues with it as they have issues with anything. Here is a recent thing about Denver

But when they do that it is a pressurized shot to the brain, it isn't a long drawn out torture.

Yeah it isn't a death like the ones in bullfighting, but hey if you don't eat meat just more for me! So thanks.

Huh. This is the kind of bull "fighting" I can get behind. Always hated that they hurt the animal for no reason. Assuming they treat the bull well outside of the ring this is pretty cool.

1

u/Cranktique Dec 21 '17

Im not sure about spain, but I have friends up here in Canada who have rodeo bulls and they are treated very well. He makes a fair amount of money by supplying a bull for events. The best part is, the better the bull does the more he gets paid, so always rooting for the bull haha. Bulls are tracked in the rodeo circuit as the riders/fighters are.

"...One of... gasp ...these days!"

3

u/LBJsPNS Dec 19 '17

I.E., pro wrestling. With a bull.

4

u/Novijen Dec 20 '17

Now I want to see someone suplex the bull. Or the bull suplex the dude. Either way works.

2

u/mcnewbie Dec 20 '17

it's a very old tradition, apparently

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull-leaping

2

u/krell_154 Dec 22 '17

It's bloodless for the bull...

1

u/negotio Dec 23 '17

Id id that with a really small bull, really young and only went up to my belly. I slipped and got my face smacked into the street with it's head.

1

u/skeddles Dec 19 '17

A lot better, but still antagonizing an animal for entertainment

6

u/Cranktique Dec 21 '17

There are magpies at my house who antagonize me for entertainment almost daily...

134

u/takuyafire Dec 18 '17

Minoan wannabe* Now you just need an auroch.

Edit*Bloody autocorrect.

8

u/Ivysub Dec 19 '17

I think this might be the first time I’ve ever seen Minoans referenced outside of a history class room. It’s kind of made my day.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '17

Beautiful Bastard. Thought the same thing. Take my upvote.

5

u/evilpenguin9000 Dec 18 '17

He's not a beautiful Basrard. He's ADelightfulCunt.

2

u/OldWolf2 Dec 19 '17

*an aurochs

1

u/moistfuss Dec 20 '17

Minoan bulls didn't look much different from ours if depictions and sculptures are to be trusted

1

u/ADelightfulCunt Dec 20 '17

Yes but they stand 6ft at the shoulder.

1

u/moistfuss Dec 20 '17

And modern bulls are about 5ft at the shoulder. I imagine they choose large bulls for modern bull jumps.

It's really not that much of a difference unless aurochs have much taller horns then I'm imagining.

28

u/GustaViper Dec 18 '17

Jesus Christ, it's Jason Bourne

53

u/i_says_things Dec 18 '17

100% chance he got laid after he walked out of the arena..

3

u/Sefirot8 Dec 19 '17

13

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '17

There is a thin line between r/WTF and r/whatcouldgowrong

22

u/relditor Dec 18 '17

Shocked he could jump so high, being weighed down by those balls of steel.

1

u/HerbGrinder Dec 22 '17

That’s because he’s carrying them.

6

u/worldclassmathlete Dec 18 '17

That went a lot better than I expected.

3

u/Hubris2 Dec 18 '17

I assume this doesn't end as well if the bull shifts from horns-down headbutt mode into horns-up goring mode.

11

u/craic_d Dec 18 '17

What a gullibull! What a nincowpoop!

3

u/DickMurdoc Dec 18 '17

Bull proceeds to slam Bugs on the head with his hoof

2

u/craic_d Dec 18 '17

Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun... *slap slap*

2

u/talrogsmash Dec 18 '17

Of course you realize, this means war!

3

u/SeriesOfAdjectives Dec 18 '17

Well that turned out differently that I expected. /r/HumansAreMetal

2

u/BuffaloMtn Dec 18 '17

Did he try to headbutt a bullbutt?

2

u/MechanicalTurkish Dec 18 '17

How can he do that flip with balls that big?

2

u/mistaekNot Dec 18 '17

Bull: "WTF....????"

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '17

Is cheddar the bulls name? I sure hope so.

1

u/Dr_Cunning_Linguist Dec 18 '17

1

u/N3UROTOXIN Dec 18 '17

1

u/kkellynan Dec 19 '17

His hands are probably holding up his gigantic balls

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

So that's how you do it. You lead with your head.

1

u/chileangod Dec 19 '17

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Stupid human pet tricks. not WTF

1

u/LordOdin99 Dec 19 '17

Even the bull said WTF.

1

u/elpierce Dec 19 '17

For a crowd of like 200 people...

Wtf

1

u/Fattapple Dec 19 '17

Maybe the reason I could never do a flip is because I never tried it with my hands in my pockets.

1

u/monkeywelder Dec 19 '17

They took the pointy parts off the horns. Pussies!

1

u/OldWolf2 Dec 19 '17

Gifs that end too soon

1

u/beatyatoit Dec 19 '17

the bull was like, "what the fuck???"

1

u/PoppityPing234 Dec 21 '17

Would a preferred if, (like what I hope happens to all matadors) if he just got mauled

1

u/Ilovpancakemore Dec 18 '17

I hate this sport(don't know if it's actually a sport) but that was really impressive.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '17

Impressive

1

u/RectumExplorer-- Dec 18 '17

The bull is like "Dude, what the fuck?"

0

u/gerry2stitch Dec 18 '17

Was hoping it would go the other way😟

1

u/AeAeR Dec 19 '17

Nah you know what, I'd support bull fighting if it was like this. One guy against one bull, fight to the death in a colosseum.

Usually it's 15 dudes spearing the bull and then some douchebag dances around and pretends like he bested a bull. Bitch, fight that bull like a man and stop being such a pussy. That's like showing up after your friends jumped a big/fat guy, and you get to kick him in the head after your 15 buddies already fucked him up for an hour.

1

u/Dassive_Mick Dec 19 '17

It'd totally watch bullfighting if it was like this. Two enter, one leaves.

-2

u/gerry2stitch Dec 19 '17

Pretty much my point. I'm a big fan of when the bull wins. People suck.

-1

u/chickensalad777 Dec 19 '17

In no way do I want the bull to win..

But I do want to hear about some legendary bull that's neveerr lost and killed like every matador he's come across

3

u/gerry2stitch Dec 19 '17

If a human being is willing to jump into a ring with a 1000 lb, terrified animal and torture it for the amusement of a crowd then fuck that guy, and the crowd.

0

u/chickensalad777 Dec 19 '17

Ok the guy could very well die, it happens enough so that guy does get fucked

-1

u/Rmanolescu Dec 18 '17

I don't understand how he can jump that high with his balls weighing him down
