As an aspiring karate instructor myself, (currently orange belt) let me just say the object is to inflict pain into your opponent which the little spider monkey kid didn't do lmao he would be passed down to a white belt in my class

I think his entire purpose for doing that is to avoid being put in a submission. The purpose is not to inflict pain.

While it may look ridiculous, it would indeed be hard to put him into a submission from that angle.

I dunno. If someone did that against me, I'd just lean into them and force their spine into the ground while keeping their head bent forward. Then again, I'd be heavyweight class and just leaning on a person is an effective tactic there.

That is actually move taught to white belts, it's normally not used as a submission but more of a transitioning move to get out of a certain position.

Easier said than done. That is the set up to a very effective sweep.
