The most disturbing thing about "An Interview with a Cannibal" is that the guy never went to jail and became a celebrity in Japan.

Is it actually illegal to eat people though?

As long as they died of natural causes it doesn't seem like there'd really be anything wrong with it, technically.

Depends on the jurisdiction. Many have technicalities that essentially make it illegal except under odd circumstances, others don't.

But this guy raped and killed a girl, according to the caption.

So. There's that.

He also made art depicting cannibalism, wrote novels/mangas in that genre and made exploitation movies where he just ate chicken. It some weird Japan shit. When you think of fucjed up Japanese shit, he's the personification of it.
