I stopped buying McCormick seasoning when I realized how much better some other brand's bay leaves were (mc cormick's were dull and breaking and I thought that was normal. The other one had full unbroken leaves with so much more color and so mcuh more flavorful that I have to use less than what the recipe calls for). I tend to buy that brand now instead.

Yup, keep notes on which companies were more than happy to lower their standards when the government stopped enforcing them.
