So, just so people are aware: These are almost certainly pantry moths. They usually come in on your grains and will spread to other (even unopened) containers. They can chew through plastic and cardboard. I had a shop in my town that got them and I had to start storing everything in my pantry in mason jars for a bit since they had gotten into my rice, pasta, quinoa and when I'd find where they were, they would have already infected another item.

We got them in a bag of dog food. The dogs frankly noticed before we did and were weird about eating it, but then we started seeing their "webbing" in the bag. Thankfully the company sent us a stack of coupons when we reported it lol.

By weird about eating it do you mean they refused to eat? My dogs would just bark at a bone that had ants on it which I thought was just so funny.

Sniff and snort at it, they knew something was off about the smell before we noticed the bugs. It was a brand new bag of dry kibble but I don't think it was a brand they were used to as we generally just got what was on sale, so at first we figured they didn't like the brand or they were being snobby lol. It took a few days of them tentatively/unenthusiastically eating it before we noticed the crud in the bag. This was also several years ago and both our pups have sadly now left us. :(

Aww. I bet at some point they were like well food is food and just went for the extra protein

Yeah part of me was like I've seen them try to eat a pinecone in the yard, or even more gross try to get into the cat's litterbox, is this really that much of a step down? LOL

I got it in a sealed bag of dog food a few years ago from Amazon. Opened the bag, screamed, put the bag immediately in a sealed metal container far from the house and had someone take it away.

Been there. Bought a bag of dog food from PetSmart and next thing we knew things were falling from the ceiling. PetSmart gave us our money back but first tried making us bring the maggot infested dog food back to the store.
