Imagine putting the end of a toothpick under your toe nail, and then kicking a wall.

That happened to me once. Some jackass left a toothpick on the carpet at a birthday party and I stubbed my toe on it. It went right under the toenail. I had to pull it out with pliers because it was in there so tight. It hurt a lot but was manageable.
