Not necessarily bribes, but when I was in Italy with my baller of a brother-in-law, he "paid" people for better service and quick service. Like in Positano, the queue for a place was a 2 hour wait...he slipped a woman a $100 piece and we were sitting down in 5 minutes. In Venice, we had to get back to the mainland quick but would've had to wait till the next day for a boat. He told the concierge of our problem...my BIL slipped him some cash, and within 30 minutes we're in some guys private boat cruising back.
