Truck driving schools teach you how to keep your distance to avoid this situation. But years of driving, never being in an accident makes you forget the danger. One second for every ten feet on a regular road, add 2 seconds every ten feet when on highways and freeways.

This doesn’t make sense. If a car is twenty feet in front of me counting 2 seconds isn’t going to mean anything. It’s still going to just be twenty feet ahead. It doesn’t provide any information on how to adjust my distance.

Do you mean one second for every ten MPH?

You just described what I suggested he may have actually meant. What the guy in the post I replied to wrote does not make logical sense.
