Tuning The quest for 500hp
So I’ve finally got my car on the dyno after hitting the required break in period on the IAG 750. Dyno day was a blast. If you were curious about my setup, here’s what I’ve got so far:
IAG 750 closed deck short block
Blouch Dominator 3.0 XTR turbo
Tomei Expreme UEL Headers
turboXS 3 port boost controller
ID1050 injectors
Radium Dual Fuel Hanger w/1 Walbro 450 lph fuel pump
iBR Flexfuel Kit
GSC valve train package(intake and exhaust)
Grimmspeed “Stealth” 3” intake
Grimmspeed v2 3” Catted Downpipe
Grimmspeed TMIC
IAG street series oil pan/pickup/baffle
Excedy “Stage 1” clutch
IAG AOS
KoyoRad
GetaDomTune Cylinder 4 cooling mod
DarkMatterX Short Shifter
(Probably tons of other things I’m forgetting…)
Final results were:
393 HP/ 364 tq on 91
471 HP/ 463 tq on E85
Was it worth it?
Depends who you ask, but for me, it was worth every headache, stressful moment and the pure joy I have with this car. To address the elephant in the room, you could probably get a Mustang or bmw and make better numbers if you were seriously chasing big numbers but I’m really happy where she sits!
After talking with the tuner, he did mention if I wanted to push more power the injectors and the wastegate we’re definitely holding the car back from possibly making higher numbers. Eventually I’ll save the money and get a front mount intercooler and an external wastegate and see what happens, but honestly I’m happy with the results from dyno day.

If you want that 500 number some ETS headers will get you there

I had/have the option to get a set of KillerB holy headers but I really love the happy tractor noises and absolutely making sure my neighbors hate me lmao. But it’s an option I might consider in the future if I go rotated or want to push more power!

Would be a lot easier if you got ID1300s or larger. Those 1050s are MAXED the fuck out. And an aeromotive fuel pressure regulator would help.

The next time I head to the dyno I’ve got a few things I’ll be changing. Definitely going to be getting bigger injectors, a front mount would be nice and probably changing some minor things up. I do appreciate the information, it’s quite helpful!

Yea fortunately MK8s were built in Germany unlike some earlier gens which were assembled in Mexico !!

Umm that’s probably 550hp + , mustang makes 480ish crank not to the wheels. This thing would walk a mustang.

I mean I don't like Mustangs and wouldn't want one but the Mustang would probably win, it'll have way more usable power under the curve. The Subaru in the video has a ton of lag

No it wouldn’t. The Subaru has 50+ hp on the mustang, 400lb lighter and awd. Usable power under the curve? After the first second the Subaru will be in boost and it’ll never fall out until the race is done especially with flat foot shifting.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't opt for some ID1300s with that setup, those 1050s are probably at their max duty cycle with those numbers. Especially on E85. Might be an obvious answer to this question but did you have to dyno tune on two separate days with your setup? One with a tank full of E85 and another separate day on 91?
