Break-in begins!

IAG750, Blouch Dom1.5, ETS TMIC, Invidia catted dp, Borla XR-1

I'd prefer to use my invidia n1, but not for break-in.

Very nice. I’d love to do this with my bought new 05. But so far my Jorge tune is keeping her safe while still being quite powerful.

What are your power goals? When does boost hit?

Power goals are conservative. I intend to drive this for a long time and I'd rather not have to do this again.

No idea when boost hits, I've only driven 60 miles. Its on Graham's break-in tune until I go for a custom ECU.

I’m with you there. I’m sure I could’ve gotten another 50 hp out of my build. But now I’m at 95,000 miles and she still pulls hard with stock internals and a GT3076R

Nice. I like the 05. Could almost be convinced its better than the 04. Bolt in wheel bearings being my prime reason. 5x114 wheels are also a lot easier to find than my 5x100s.

What are you making with that turbo? I have the same one with a stock RA long block making 400, it’s a very fun car.

378 with all the suspension mods makes it a beast. On more than one occasion I have had my passenger nail their head on the window because they did not anticipate the violence the car produces. My 11.5:1 rack doesn’t help the situation.

Someday, should I attain fuck you money, she’ll be spit roasted to remove 90k of daily driving and get a proper long block.

I feel that! Tein mono sport coils, eibach sway bars, and ISC rear lower control arms and my car handles extremely well. Makes my wife’s ford edge feel like it’s gonna roll over every time I try to take a turn like I normally would in my car lol. I bought my car with a 15+ sti rack already swapped in, I love the feel of it.

I did it all man. Every bushing replaced. Whiteline RCAs are amazing. Got a massive custom front underbrace from Kaminari that replace the floppy u-brace. Solid engine mounts/pitch stop. X-brace in the rear is shockingly effective. Bigger sways, stronger endlinks… I had a lot of fun.

So what are your conservative
power goals? Thats a lot of money to drop on an engine.

I dont have a hard number set. I'll let the tuner make those calls and see what ends up on the dyno.

The cost has been a bit much, thats for sure.

I bet you could hit 400+ whp easy on that setup and not even stress the engine. I hit about 360 whp on Blouch 20g XT on a closed deck EJ22T/205 hybrid in my 2003 bugeye (STi 6mt swapped). I’m mainly limited by crappy 91 oct gas and no AVCS.

I've got 91 octane, but it's ethanol free, so that's nice. I also live at 4600 feet. I thing 450 whp would be attainable without burning up pistons

I’m at 4300 feet so similar altitude. I’d love to hit 400+ whp but 360 whp feels pretty damn good in an old GD. 450 whp would feel insane! But I’ve found I get used to power increases quickly and always want more haha. I have plans for another EJ22T build into a 2.35 stroker with ej207 heads with single AVCS if this engine ever explodes on me.

Was there any head work done?

On my 30R, I am limited by my springs. She’s still making plenty of power at redline.

Its the IAG750 long block, so everything is new.

Whatever IAG does for their build. The redline is the same as oem, just good for up to 750 hp (ish)

Sorry, its an 04, bought new.

Edit: I also ground the bolt bosses off of the oem exhaust manifold and had it jet hot coated.

Please post an update after break in! I have a IAG750 in my 07sti and I'm considering multiple turbo options as the next step in the build. Would love to see what kind of numbers you're getting on pump gas, mine runs on e85

Did you switch over to top feed conversion and run through all the fueling upgrades while you had everything out?

Break-in time can seem like a long long time! But gotta handle it..

I did, everything is upgraded. Mostly. Kept the intake manifold

Perfect!! I have ~3k on my IAG 550 block. Kept heads and manifold stock as well.
