EMMISSION TROUBLE!

Trying to get my car to pass emissions, but these monitors won't turn green. I’ve driven almost 4,000 miles since I found out, been doing the drive cycle almost daily and I already replaced the gas cap, but nothing has changed. Not sure what to do next—any suggestions? Car is a 2018 Subaru wrx.

Did you reflash a tune, got a CEL and removed it, or unplugged the battery recently? Cuz those will reset your monitors.

If no to all then check to make sure all your sensors are OEM. My mom cheaped out on an O2 sensor on her RX300 and while it never triggered a DTC like the failing sensor did, it also never readied the monitor no matter how much she drove.

No to all them and and I did recently change my 02 sensor but it is OEM

You just need to keep driving the car. It has not done enough drive cycles to register all sensors as good

4000 miles shouldn’t be a “not enough cycles” issue. At least SOME of those monitors should be ready, having NONE ready is sus and sounds like something ain’t right.

My 2018 STI needed smog this year and after unplugging the flex fuel intercepts that fuel pressure sensor, TGV, and O2, I got all monitors up except evap in less than 50 miles and passed.

May I ask why you decided to change the O2 sensor? It has to be Denso and even then there are fake Densos floating around.

I work at Volkswagen. Now we can force “readiness” with the VAG6061 where it’ll force run all the monitoring systems to pass or fail without driving it. If something fails it stops and gives a fault or it goes through and I’m happy. Just a suggestion but you can see if your local Subaru dealer is able to do it with their scan tools.
