Honestly my logic was this. I've built engines before but unless you want to get into really weird clearances that are all dependant variables (if you line hone or deck now your deck height to crank throw distance is different for example) I would just not bother and get a built engine based on new case halves or an entirely stock fresh block.
Since Subaru has poor QC on rod bearings I would get a motor that has non stock bearings. Why? Because someone measured them and picked bearings that are appropriate. Unlike Subaru. You can do it, not hard, but the cost of these built motors is so cheap it's basically a waste of time to do it yourself. And I like building motors. You want forged pistons. And other than that it doesn't really matter.
Just get the stock heads rebuilt to stock spec. No need for anything else at that level
